Negative Capability is discerning.
Consistency can be an excuse for inaction or procrastination.
It’s easy to tell yourself that you have to sit down and meditate if you’ve been o a streak, when the last thing you want to do is instead to sit at your desk and do work you’ve been dreading.
It’s easy to go for a run when you’ve been running daily, instead of pushing through for that annoyingly hard burpee session.
It’s easy to consistently do what we feel like.
It’s hard to consistently do what we’re committed to.
Our feelings sway us in the direction of what’s good for us. Our commitments move us towards what’s best for us.
My mentor always says “There’s nothing more common than a consistent man with no results”.
Negative Capability is being able to stop and discern what type of consistency you’re applying to your life at any given time.
This is a unique and piercing insight Chris. "My mentor always says “There’s nothing more common than a consistent man with no results”." Thank you for sharing it.
