Negative Capability is juggling.
Juggling is hard.
You have to pay attention to multiple objects at the same time.
The trick?
It’s counterintuitive, but its focusing only on one at a time.
Once the balls are in motion, the secret to keep them going is not to look at any one except the one you’re about to grab.
It takes practice, discipline, but most of all, it takes focus.
Negative Capability is accepting that juggling many responsibilities is not only good, but it's a forcing function of effective prioritization.
As a lifetime juggler I so appreciate somebody taking a stand for this perspective. You hear over and over again that multi-tasking is bad and doesn't work. But what is lost on most is that being able to switch one's undivided focus more rapidly and manage that intentionally is good and possible. Have you delved into the multitasking research? How do you square what you're saying against it? I need help arguing for the truth of what you're saying when the subject comes up.
